Fifteen-minute sketch. The 06:00–10:00 range is 106.0–112.0 and the 10:00 open is 107.4. Price raids to 105.6, then the 10:45 candle closes back above 107.4. The long from 107.6 with a 105.5 stop targets the 112.0 range high — about 2R.

Why it works

Many sessions follow the same three acts: a quiet range builds, price runs one side of it to trigger stops, then the real move goes the other way. The 10:00 ET open is a common turning point because it follows the 08:30 data and the cash open’s first half hour.

The rules

01Setup

  • Record the 06:00–10:00 ET high and low: the accumulation range.
  • Note the 10:00 opening price.
  • Between 10:00 and 11:00, price trades beyond one side of the range: the manipulation.

02Entry

  • When a candle closes back through the 10:00 opening price, enter against the raid at the next open.

03Stop

  • Beyond the raid extreme, with a small buffer.

04Target

  • The opposite side of the accumulation range, or 2R if that is closer.

05Management

  • One trade per day. Flat by 15:55 ET.

06Invalidation

  • No raid of the range before 11:00 ET.
  • Price fails to reclaim the 10:00 open before 11:00 ET.

Common mistakes

  • Entering on the raid itself, before the reclaim
  • Ignoring a 10:00 data release that creates the move
  • Taking a sub-1R trade because the open sits in the middle of the range
